HOW TO FIND A PERFECT VERSION OF MINIMALISM?

If you already have been considering to start a minimalist lifestyle, but you’ve been kind of scared of following rules. You don’t have to be, because minimalism has no definition and no rules. At least for me.  :)

It is also not about following someone else’s way of living as a minimalist. BUT it is about finding out what is important to you in your life and getting rid of stuff that is holding you back and distracting you from you important things .

NO RULES YOU MUST FOLLOW

It’s great that you do not have to follow any rules to become a minimalist. Even though, some of the people might compare you with others or say that you are not minimalist because you have this and you do that. But just ignore it. Your life does not have to look like another minimalist's life.

At the beginning it might be overwhelming, trying to figure out how to become a minimalist, so you might look for some minimalist „rules“. But you have to realize, that no one is going to tell you what minimalism will look like for you life, because your version of minimalism won’t be the same as anyone else’s version, because we value and prioritize different things. We live in different countries, have different needs or preferences.

YOUR MINIMALISM WILL BE UNIQUE TO YOU

Everyone of us is unique and so will be your minimalism to you. You just have to identify what you value and what is important to you and get rid of all that is the opposite.

DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF WITH OTHER MINIMALISTS

If you minimized your belongings to what you feel is just enough for you, than that is your version of minimalism. Of course it can change. Maybe next year you will need a few things in your life and maybe you will want to get rid of even more stuff.

There is no good or bad minimalist. Your version will be always different and each of us has our own interpretation of what minimalism meant to us.

Through minimalism you want to give yourself, space, freedom and time to enjoy your life and the people that you love.

LEARN FROM OTHERS BUT CREATE YOUR OWN VERSION

I think that to see how other live their minimalism is a good way to learn about minimalism more. It is like a challenging yourself to step out of your comfort zone and to experiment with living with less. It will also encourage and inspire you on your minimalism journey. You can learn from other, but you have to create your own version. One that works for you, your life and your priorities.

HOW TO FIND YOUR MINIMALISM?

Maybe you’ve just started your minimalism journey and have been struggling and questioning yourself. If you’ve already reached a place of your „enough“ or when do I know when it’s enough?

Get clear with what you want and ask yourself some key question that will help you to get there.

-Why am I choosing minimalism?

There are so many reasons that can lead you to minimalism, so the first step is to figure out what you want to accomplish by embracing minimalism. What led you to minimalism and decluttering? What is you motivation? DO you want to enjoy more time with family over dealing with „stuff“ ? Are you tired of cleaning up? Get clear about what your goal is.

-What is important for me?

Before you actually start you should know what you value the most and what is important to you. It can be hobby, freedom, traveling more, more quality time with your family. Write down all the things that matter to you to always keep you motivated on your journey.

-What „enough“ looks like for me?

This is something that you will figure out while going through the process of decluttering and minimizing. Only you will know what is enough for you. There is no right or wrong. Enough means keeping things that add value to you life, because they make you happy.

After answering these question honestly, you will figure out what the perfect version of minimalism is for you. Of course it is not something that will be done. It is a process , a journey a lifestyle you adopt. Your minimalism will change as your life changes.
